Tripod presented results last week at the Photo Metadata Conference "Metadata in a Multimedia World" organised by the IPTC as part of the international CEPIC conference in Dresden. Participants from the stock photo and publishing industry heard a presentation on Tripod's achivements to date, and saw demos of how Tripod can automatically caption images using only location, and integrate complex 3D data to extract information from fully spatially referenced images.

Martin Tomko presented a paper on the "Identification of Practically Visible Spatial Objects in Natural Environments" at the AGILE conference in Hannover. The paper is concerned with methods to identify visible objects in a camera's field of view, using elevation and vegetation data. A final draft of the paper, which is published in Springer's Lecture Notes in Geoinformation and Cartography series is here.
